A fan that turns into a useful weapon, the incence stick makes people throw up after 30 seconds. there is a tuk-tuk with a misile launcher in the front and machine gun directly controled by the handle bars, and a buddah grenade. twist the head twice and anyone within 10m can say their prayers. a watch with a transmitter in it. works when the hands are set to 11 o'clock!! explosive coins detonated by a packet of chewing-gum with the switches to detonate them. and then theres the belt with a particularly sharp knife hidden in the buckle and it won't show up on x-ray machines. slice open the belt and inside are matches and medicine,water purifying knockout pills that are guaranteed to work on 11 different variaties snakes. did anyone think that that was going to come in this book?

The importance of those gadgets were the fact that they were stolen and the coins weren't.  I don't think AH ever meant for Alex tor eally use it, the description of those gadgets were also a lot smaller than usual

I agree, but I think this book has something more to do with Alex's past and the betrail of his Godfather rather than that of the gadgets. But I must say that the gadgets were still used in ways I still couldn't predict. And the way Alex figured out what had happned was something I myself couldn't even see in the coming in the book.

yeah i figured there had to be something wrong with the watch.
it makes me sad of the fact that alex didn't get to use his belt. it would have been really usefull where he ended up in the chapter Batteries Not Included

Yeah. But the part I loved the most was [SPOILER] that he remembered the battery in his shoe. It was totally unexpected. I like it when every gadget doesn't get used, or when he has to improvise. Seems more realistic, instead of every gadget being designed for the trouble he will find himself in, he has some that work out with some help. Does that make sense?

it's cool that they don't all get used but it still upsets me. i want to know how he'd use it!

the metal fan reminds me of the shukusen in tamora pierce's books. yeah i agree with T_K its good that the watch didn't just get him neatly out of trouble straight away, that would have been maybe a little cliche

maybe smithers will make another belt like the one in snakehead for book 9

i doubt that he'd make another belt because then everyone would quickly know what it's for and what it does right off the bat. besides, it's best to always have completely different gadgets each time so that if any enemy is tracking all the gadgets AR has and there's a similar item that AR is wearing then that enemy will take it away from him.

I love smithers he just seemed to alway be making things for alex before alex even knew he was gonna do most of his missions...uncanny huh? i think so...

that reminds me of when AR got a bike from smithers. how would smithers know if AR would need it? cool gadget btw especially smither's joke for AR: "if you can read this, you owe me a new bike."

Yeah...except in Snakehead, Alex always found a way to use all of his gadgets...perhaps Smithers unleashed his psychic powers

the gadget were cool... maybe AH didnt have any ideas for when to use the gadgets or he thought it may not be interesting
