I just wanted to correct some details, regarding the muay thai action in chapter 8 and 9.
Alex says this on page 122: ”..And this was a dirty, illegal version. Neither of the fighters had hand wraps, shin pads or abdomen protectors.” If this was a normal fight, then none would’ve worn shin pads or abdomen protectors. These protective devices are for use only in training or in amateur fights. Profights require hand wraps, gloves and a protective cup in the groin.

The other mistake (a big one) is in the acknowledgements. AH refers to ”Thai kick-boxing”. But there’s no such thing! The correct term is simply muay thai, you can also call it thai boxing. But the use of the word kickboxing will often be regarded as an insult/lack of knowledge for those who know muay thai. Muay thai has nothing to do with kickboxing as a sport.

These mistakes aside, the actual fight scene is pretty good and realistic. Alex, with a background in karate, hasn’t got a chance in a fight under muay thai rules. The powerful muay thai techniques are too much for a fighter who’s only trained in karate moves. And add the fact that Alex faces a seasoned and bigger fighter, who’s probably been fighting as a pro for 15 years (he’s estimated to be in his mid-twenties,page 122), then the outcome is either to be knocked out or cheat. (This is actually true. Thai fighters often start their careers in the age of 10 years or younger)

this is a bit critical he says in the acknowledgements that he tries to make everything as accurate as possible, so he made a tiny mistake, come on

it's not terrible to find mistakes of course. in my case i often find typos in books that i read. AH made a couple in his earlier AR books. no big deal! the point is, even if there's a big mistake you've got to forget about it to enjoy the book! it's not fun to find those kinds of mistakes.

AH didn't make those typo's the printers do.  The editors who have to take it out...I mean yes, maybe AH made typo's, but it goes through a long proces in between him sending it to the publishers and it actually getting printed, so additional typo's can appear

What he found interesting was the mistake that was in it.  If I start naming all the posts members make that are ridiculous, there would be no end.  And If I delete them all post counts would be cut in half.  Don't knock someone else's posts unless yours are 100% contributing all the time.  He made 1 post and it was well thought out and well explained, and something that obviously struck him enough to join the forum.  The moment you all put that much effort in all of your posts, then you earn the right to comment on others

This isn't a disastrous mistake but how did the tracking device in Alex's shoe never get caught by the airports? I thought shoes were the one thing that airport security checks most thoroughly.

In America, they check most shoes. Most sneakers they don't check unless the heel or bottom of the shoe is thicker than one inch (I believe). In most other countries, especially third world, they don't check shoes like that.

And I'm also sure that Smithers made sure that the tracking device wasn't detectable by airport security, much like the contents of Alex's belt.

Yeah, and in that Christmas at Gunpoint story, Ian Rider's gun wasn't detected by airport security either, so Smithers was smart.

I think it said it was Ethan Brooke. One of the ASIS people put it in the pair of shoes he was given. I'm not sure.
