well you know at any rate, a price change has nothing to do with him anyways.  Nobody said anything defending him, we merely commented on the fact that 8 pounds is still very cheap for a hardcover book

Lol everyone's defending AH  grin

I'll just get it from the library and then buy it in paperback...

Thats the point, why have it in hardback? For an extra 5p in manufacturing costs, a £6 price increase is slapped on them.

To be fair, it's not really a 5p manufacturing cost. It's more like a 30p increase, which is quite a lot. A rule of thumb is that books are priced at about ten times what they cost to make, so if it costs 90p to make a hardback it will probably get sold for ?8.99. You will almost never have to pay the full retail price for a popular author like AH, though - the shops will sell copies at a big discount. Nobody had to pay ?18 for the last HArry Potter book, for example.

In the UK, Amazon has cut the price of Snakehead in hardback from ?12.99 to ?6.49. That means that they are selling it for 50p less than the full retail price of the paperback of Ark Angel, so it looks like a pretty good deal from here.

RS is right. I wish we got it in hardcover, but we only got it released as the floppy paperback.

It's shame that I bought it for ?12.99 at Waterstones. I was so desperate to get it I bought it straight away.

I am also annoyed. Apart from the higher price (yes, ?8 isnt a lot but if the paper back was released it would have got similar discounts so would be even cheaper).

This is also the second change in design since the series started. I have Stormbreaker and Point Blanc in one style, the others in a different style and now Snakehead in Hardback (which also doesn't fit in my bookcase with the others).

Whats wrong with sticking with one style???

(P.S. I know this isn't AH fault its the publishers)

i agree with you there, it is stupid how many times they change the style, maybe they're just not sure? that's a lousy excuse for a professional publisher but maybe? i have them all in one style and snakehead in hardback, but i think the style with a colour, then a logo in silver looks very good, though in snakehead they have the snake in green because of course the background is silver, which i think spoils it a little bit.

What would you expect. All hardbacks are mor expensive than paperback.
