Are the locations Mr. Horowitz describes real? I mean in the faraway places as well as the London locales? The buldings in SCORPIA and others? Thanks.

The landscapes/cities/countries/...that he describes are real and he goes to research them.  However minor details, like the actual house of Julia Rothman, or the compound where Stormbreaker plays, those are fiction

For all I know, it's a fictional place, and could possibly be based off Grand Blanc Academy, or Mont Blanc Academy. Although, both of those schools are in North America. Or Point Blanc could have just been a random idea to have a corrupt school on Mont Blanc, in France of course, and for legal reasons the place name had to be changed a little. It is a rather dramatic setting  smiley.

Overall though, I think the places AH writes about are very loosely based off real locations. Of course, I'm sure that the academies (is that even a word? Tongue) mentioned above aren't like Point Blanc. Although, that could be something we could check out  wink, lol.
