it's not as if they're criminals...they've just been badly raised, and then that's the kind of stuff you get involved with. not like they killed anyone (that didn't deserve it)

Matt skipped school and got involved in that burglary. But it was mostly peer pressure, and he didn't want anyone to get hurt, either, and he was beaten by his aunt's boyfriend.
Pedro was a thief. But he needed it to survive, but you can't really blame him.
Scott accidentally killed that guy. Accidentally. He didn't realize the full extent of his powers.
Jamie slashed the tires cuz of what was happening, and he wanted to let loose, but he regretted it later.
Scar? We don't know yet.

Scar would almost certainly have a clean record coz she's the son of a rich man (Nightrise Chairman) and carrys a refined background. The reason the rest are all minor juvenile criminals is because it's artistic liscence to read about these sort of nobodies who don't even have proper lives suddenly being immortalized by having these epic adventures and having greatness thrust upon them. That's pretty much why.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. I mean they wouldn't be criminals if they had specail powers

i dont like the fact that modern day 'heroes' have troubled pasts and are usually criminals. i just hope scar isnt like that (but from what we see from nightrise, she's rich, so it may be a change in the formula) just a thought.

these days there are more kids with troubled pasts than kids that had a real carefree childhood. So I guess it's just picking up from reality

that's not actually true - it only seems that way because we only ever hear about youth criminals in the news, therefore giving the impression that they are the majority.
i just think it would be nice for some varying backgrounds, rather than them all being crims. XD

I don't mean troubled youths as in criminals, i mean not the happy family environment. How many children aren't there with divorced parents and all of that?
