Does'nt it seem to you that blunt is a bit cruel. You could say that to the whole of MI6 but you know, they never give rewards to alex and they probably give other spies money or a sort of bage

I think that Blunt is just trying to do his job, but without getting criticized by the media and by the government by making the wrong rule, when is why he didnt go after Cray in eaglestrike, because he didnt want to make the wrong move

I would agree with dasblitz there. Even then, he can be a bit discouraging sometimes and very persuasive in other cases.

of course they give the other (older) spies money! Being a spy is a job...I mean, how else did Ian and John Rider pay their bills xD Alan Blunt was probably made the way he is by his job, like some other people have already said...I mean, he's probably been in the spy business pretty long, considering he's reached the top and the pressure of his job and all the things he's seen and done has probably hardened him a lot

It might be because Alex isn't technically old enough for anything other than a paper round. It wouldn't exactly look good if someone asked Alex "how on earth did you afford a *insert something expensive*?!?" and Alex replying "Oh that, yeh MI6 gave me a few thousand quid bonus for saving the country again".
Or perhaps they are like paying Alex, but without him knowing. I mean, are we ever told Jack has a job?

I was actually thinking that after I posted. But I was too lazy to edit the post.

I think they do give him some money, whitout him knowing it, so when he's an adult, he can care for himself (and can use the money to save the world once again). Bunt looks like he doesn't care about Alex but I have to agree with dasblitz and chogirl92. Blunt tries to do his job and if he could, he would do it without Alex, but he can't. They need Alex.

Yeah, he does seem reluctant to use a child. But that might be cos he's considering the repurcussions of if the country found out they were using a fourteen year old as a spy.

Alan Blunt? Hmm. I don't really like him much. He's far too grey!!!
The only thing good about him is his analytical brain. But I suppose he had good reason to recruit Alex. If you've read all six books so far, or possibly th 7th as well, then you'd know of all the disasters that would of occured if MI6 hadn't used Alex. Being a spy is in his blood.
