Les habiles tyrans ne sont jamais punis.

« on: August 24, 2007, 05:17:35 PM »

Who thinks that the five will have to go and reclaim their swords, the ones they used in the first battle against the Old Ones? Will they have to go and find the ones they used the first time round, or will they get new ones? Cause it seemed like an important part of defeating the Old Ones. And Jamie's sword did have a NAME. Which always makes them important.

FROST was Sapling's name for the sword. Anyways it is possible that they will have to reclaim the swords for the 'Final Battle' but you have to take into consideration where they possibly could find the swords that are over 10 000 years old and it is very likely that the swords could be a bit rusty or siding you with you on this one. The Past Five could have hidden them somewhere where only the Present Five will be able to find them. Or there is a possibility that they will make new weapons. Just a thought

Yeah, but if they were the Five's swords then they'd probably be magicked to stop them from rusting or degrading over time. And like the Inca dagger that Richard gets, they can probably only be seen by one of the Five, stopping anyone else from removing them from their resting place.

Yeah i think that richards knife is definatly pedros sword , but u can't see it , like what it does to other people but it still hides it's true form from richard aswell. I think that the gatekeepers find the swords in Necropolis: city of the dead ( if thats the fourth books title )

Or the swords could be found inside the dream world. That way only the Five would be able to reach them, and they definitely stay safe and in the one place. But I think the swords will definitely play a big part in the series towards the end - they could search for them during the fifth book. After all, what else are they going to do once they all meet up? How else is AH going to fill up the fifth book?

I liked the name of Jamie/Sapling's sword. It wasn't corny or anything, and that's good. Cause usually they're something awful like the Elder Sword of Wisdom or the Shining Blade of Virtue or something godawful like that. But Frost was cool. It was good. I hope the others have names like that.

I definatly think that the swords are more than just little weapons, kinda like what happened in nightrise when jamie went back in time and where they all stuck them into the king of the old one, but i think the 5 could maybe chanel there powers throught them, as sort of  a amplifier... what u guys think?

That's what I thought! Their swords were a sort of conduit for their powers, alllowing them to channel them into Chaos. That way, even non-offensive powers (healing and telepathy) can be used against Chaos.

There I was thinking everyone had died.... Nice to see someone's still online  wink

Yeah, the swords definitely have a large role to play in the final battle. Maybe they're the only weapons that can harm Chaos? I don't know. But something else that I haven't heard anyone else mention - the prophecy, at the very beginning of Raven's Gate. We don't know it in its entirety. It could have something in it about the swords - or something that changes everything completely.
