I'm probably going to get blazed for this but I don't think Yassen is a character for his own novel. I, for one, only care about him, as he relates to Alex Rider. Yassen's a villain and I don't really want to read a novel with just him in it. Flashbacks are fine and good and I am intriguied by his past as it relates to Alex and his dad but I don't want to read a novel with just Yassen in it. It's similar to Peter Pan in that some fans think that every book wtih Peter Pan has to have Capt. Hook. I totally disagree. Hook served his purpose in the original story, the movie, etc...but Peter Pan was before Hook in fact Hook never showed up inthe original drafts and any books or movies that come out with Hook in them, are below par, really boring. It is time to give Pan a new villain or a new adventure. Alex is much the same...Yassen is DEAD and if he returns in reality, I'd be really upset...unless he was cloned years ago similar to that in Point Blanc but even then, I think bringing him back is a bad idea. I read these because of Alex, not because of Yassen or the other villains. IMO. As for having an Alex Rider universe book without Alex Rider...uhm, NO THANKS. I don't want to read about the others, I want to read about Alex Rider and that's it. I"m sure there are plenty of other adcventures Alex could have...and I like him over other teen spies because he is reluctant and resourceful.

Well, that was very unambiguous. Don't, get me wrong, I agree completely, but I've never read Peter Pan so I got kinda lost there...

I don't think there should be a Yassen book... the series is called "Alex Rider" not "Yassen Gregorovich" [sorry if that's spelt wrong]. I wouldn't mind if there was a history book, maybe a Yassen chapter, but not all about Yassen...that would be a little weak [I apologise to Yassen fans embarassed]. He's not a major character in the books so I don't think there should be one all about him.

I love Yassen. I would actually like to replace Alex, if Yassen could come back into the picture.  grin
I am really happy that he is coming back. And I hope that the 8th one is all about Yassen.

I actually think that Yassen is a lot like an older Alex.

yeah in some ways that is true
he chose the villan path though
and who knows... alex has flirted with that side before

but i wouldn't like it not to have alex
he's like the main character, and i know a lot of  girls who read the book mainly cos him
i personally love the books for their content, but alex is my fav character

Yeah, I don't really think that an entire book about Yassen would a good idea, but I did like the John Rider idea. I mean, Alex is definitely my favorite character to read about, but it would still be interesting to read about the details of John Rider's MI6 employment and all.

yeah i'd love to learn more
but i think it should be revealed to alex
or in flashback form
taking alex out entirely wouldn't appeal to me

Silly thought, but what if Yassen is disatantly related to Alex? Like second cousin twice removed thing.

The novel about Yassen is probably written because Yassen has certain significance in the novels. Looking at history of Alex Rider( the books) and the news about the upcoming books, I have come to the conclusion that Yassen might be Alex's godfather. I think I have also got some evidence regarding the subject. Firstly, Mr.Horowitz is going to write about Yassen's history after Snakehead because he would tell us that Yassen was, or is, Alex's godfather. Secondly, he has been involved with the plots of the series and it might be that Yassen has more significance. All of this is only my theory but I am quite sure that it is right. Assuming that he is Alex's godfather, we can say that he might be working for some intelligence service instead of Scorpia and is under a long cover. This would be only way it can happen and it probably is. I have suggested this because we know that Alex will be introduced to his Godfather in Snakehead.
