This book would make such a cool film! Anyone else agree? While I was reading it, I could imagine it all coming together...

And also, there's so many climaxes that it'd be a perfect film. It doesn't follow the standard narrative (equilibrium, climax, equilibrium), which is also known as Todorov's theory of narrative, but has loads of 'mini-climaxes' as well as the main all-out shaboom... FILM IT!!! loll

*Minor Spoiler*

... Especially the chapters set back ten thousand years ago. Those chapters reminded me of Zelda or Lord of the Rings loll That'd be so cool to turn into a film.

I disagree, for the moment. It's difficult to really get everything in without knowing what happens at the end. Harry Potter's having the same problem (it's what made the first two films naff - everything got lumped in because no-one had a clue as to what was important or not). Take Evil Star for example. You can't cut the meeting between Matt and the person who was selling the diary, but it's pointless having the test in because, essentially, it leads to nothing in that book.

I'd say wait until books 4 and 5 were out - makes it easier to adapt.

Yah, of course, I never meant make it as a film instantly... I was just thinking that the events in the book would make a good interesting film. The imagination involved that would help create something like this on screen would totally look cool, just think of the SFX and everything that'd bring it to life.

Cost a bomb and a half to make too. And, let's be fair here, Anthony's last adaptation hasn't really done well has it? Might make the distributers a little unenthusiastic to pick it up.

I'm not saying it won't be made or that it'll be a naff film - I've been working on a adaptation myself - but there's the fiddly bits like "how do you show Matt's power?" and stuff.

loll Yet again, I wasn't suggesting actually making it, I was just saying how it'd probably be an excellent watch if it were to be made into a film. But you are right nonetheless  smiley

This book is amazing. Ive just got to the bit where Jamie gets to the city of canals with scar and the other dudes. Its awesome and its good to have other characters other than Matt. Im not gonna skip to the end to find out but is this the last book in the power of five series because they have all the five now.

*cough* minor spoiler *cough*

Matt, Pedro, Scar, Jamie, Scott.

***Spoiler***  ***Spoiler***  ***Spoiler***

Ah, we know about Scar, but we haven't met the female gatekeeper who is alive in the world set today. So my guess is that we'll have another book where we meet her.

So far we have...

Today's world; Matt, Pedro, Jamie & Scott
Ten Thousand Years Ago; Matt, Sapling (Jamie), Flint (Scott), Inti (Pedro) & Scar

So we yet have to meet the female gatekeeper who is alive in today's setting.

The final chapter of Nightrise is the first time we see her. Could the classed technically as a meeting? (by which I mean, we as readers have met her, but the other members of the Five haven't).

For your information Emo-Liam, there's five books. Raven's Gate, Evil Star, Bightrise and two others. The fourth one will be from Scarlett's point of view, set in Hong Kong, and the fifth will be one great big finale.

well if they did make it into a movie i have no doupt they they are gonna cut some scenes. its unaviodable
and frankly that just about ruins not only the movie but my high opinion of the book. examples are eragon, stormbraker, and harry potter. i hope they won't do it to much in the upcoming the golden compass movie  undecided

Indeed. But you shouldn't let the film ruin your opinion of the book, once written the books don't change, and films are totally different to books anyway. Well, all I'm saying is the HP films haven't ruined my opinion of the books, I just don't like the movies that much.  smiley The same with Stormbreaker too!

i do too. that was sad. I was ticked about how bad it was compared to the book. but it's like that with most books made into movies.....well maybe not Alex Rider.....but just look at Twilight. compared to the book it was REALLY bad.

It probably wouldn't be a good movie. with the way they have graphics and how the actors they chose never look like how the books describe them..........ummmm..........no.

thats not exactly true,
because in nightrise they dont really explain scarlett
and your thinking about 10,000 years ago and only jamie knows about that.
if you look on the website it also says there is 5 books.
necropolis was out on october 2008
and the final book is waiting to be finished.
