I cheated and read the Manga before I saw the film.... I liked it, but what I didn't understand was that it seemed that every other word was in bold type! Sometimes it made sense (to, off course, empathize a particular word) but very often it seemed to be done more or less by chance… annoying!

yeah, i realised it too. they don't do that in other mangas, but somehow they did in this one.... i don't even think it actually is manga. the other ones i saw (not anything to do with alex rider), they look different and the formatting is different as well.

Well... it is done in the Manga-inspired style, but as it is so closely tied to the movie I guess they tried to keep it as "life like" as possible...  I wonder what Anthony thinks of it? Does anyone know if he has made any comments about it? I don't regret buying it, anyway, I think it's fun to have, 'specially if you get a sudden Horowitz-urge (is that a common affliction? It hits me quite often...) and just don't have TIME to re-read anything or watch the movie...  wink

The bold type is a Western comics thing. It's pretty standard in things like DC or Marvel comics. I think it's because although the artists do manga mainly the writer works in UK and US comics. So things like the way the storytelling works are more like Western comics than manga.

Yeah, I think it's great when it is done carefully... not LIKE this FOR example... ;o) Well, it wasn't THAT bad in the comic I guess...

i expected it to be more like real manga and set in the actual manga format, but then the real manga format is pretty hard to read for people that don't read manga all that much.

the rope bit in the movie was really fast, so i think might look kind of weird if they put it in the graphic novel, because then you can see every action really clearly and it might not seem so fast anymore.
