Yeah, she should never have been a MAIN character like Alex, just sort of there for an extra touch or perspective to Alex's life.

I agree.
She should not have a big role like that, she'll get her chance in one of the later books. I can't quite remember which, but it was the book where Alex join Sabina and her family on a vacation.?!
