*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*
I went to see it today and I thought it was great.
Lines that seemed bland or stilted from Alex in the trailers turned out okay in context to the actual film. Bill Nighy was sometimes hilarious, though I hated the fact that you could TELL that he was covered in white powder.
The relationship between Wolf and Alex could've been developed a bit more...but then the film would've been too long. I thought the scene were Alex fell through the roof of the science musuem and Wolf helped him out by chucking him the gun was great. The whole training sequence was perfect.
It turns out that they didn't put in the Sabina and Alex 'kiss' that Anthony talked about in that popcorn interview. I think that was a good idea. It would've ended the film on a slushy note.
I don't think it was perfect, but I think it was damn good. After seeing the film, I appreciate and accept some of the changes because I can see for myself that they made the film better. Another thing that annoyed me was the 'eccentric' role of Jack. Is she that wierd in the book? I can't even remember. The first time we see her she's stupidly hacking at a cucumber after decieving us that she could've been a potential danger to Alex.
Okay..sorry that was long. I give the film 8.5/9, because some bits made me go 'HUH?'. Other wise it was fantastic!

WOW! I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THAT FILM!
I was so excited in the cinema! I was screaming with excitement! XD
I thought it was so good! I'm so glad it wasn't like Cody Banks! Alex Pettyfer was fantastic! I agree Jack was a bit whiny, but she still was good. I am seeing it again VERY soon!
Did anyone spot AH?

Ok, I saw the film earlier today too, and here is my verdit:
SPOILERS ABOUND:
Overall I was very happy with it. As potentially one of the older fans on this site, I was mostly concerned with how 'child-friendly' (to put it one way) would be. However, I am pleased to say that it does seem to be an all round family film, the adults in the screen seemed to appreciate it as much as the kids they were with.
I'll get my few niggles out the way before I start with the good stuff. At many times I was very under-impressed with the sound effects, mixing and music. Maybe I am being picking, as the is an area I specialise in the school. But you know the audio is doing the best job when it goes completely unnoticed by the audience. Yet I did find myself noticing music ques that weren't quite right, songs that didn't fit, and sound effects that didn't always compliment the action. These things had potential to really drive the plot but they let the pace down a bit.
The editing, particularly of the action sequences was on the whole, excellent, I just couldn't help but feel that the film ultimately lacked that driving pace that sets the books apart. The script was solid, but it just didn't quite translate to edge of seat sequences.
And finally, the fight scene between Nadia and Jack really had no place in the final cut of the movie. It was a totally unnesacary attempt to make Jack more involved in the plot, which would have been accomplished without the scene anyway. And the fight ends with no conclusion, each person just going back to whatever they were doing before gettting involoved. If such a sequences needed to be added, a consequence should have emerged from it. Otherwise it was just pointless.
Saying this though the action within it was pretty awesome, as are all such sequences in the film. And considering the 90 minute running time, a lot was fitted in, not just the action but a real build up of the relationships between different characters, particularly, I felt, the relationship between Alex and Yassen (which we know is important for later) I just wish more time would have been spent on building up the main plot and the suspence so that Alex's peril seems much more real and frightening.
The cast were all awesome. The script hit everything right (give of take one or two clunky lines, and the opening sequence.....exposition anyone?)
At the end of the day, speakign as a huge fan I found it very fun, and and great start to a franchise.

I didn't feel he was as involved in the plot as say Nadia and Yassen. Obviously he is the main bad guy, but he didn't seem to have as much to do. He wasn't as charasmatic and interesting as other characters, but I had no really quarells with him. He was fine.

Yeah it is unfortunately, because the time he
is
on screen is great....I mean it is Andy Serkis after all. But he is one of the lesser developed characters.

Nadia just turns up at Jack/Alex's house to find out more about him, and then they get into the fight when Jack won't answer her questions. The fight itself is good, but wound me up a bit as the scene is so completely pointless to the plot overall.

Does this happen while Alex is at Sayle Enterprises?

I found it was. It would have got my 10/10 had it ended up 12A.
It missed out the way AH makes it seem REAL. Like its possible to have a 14 year old as a spy. The movie missed that - so anyone who hadn't read the books would be like...this kid is weird/impossible.
Anyone else get that?
